“Horizon Liberté !” at the Musée de la Mer et de la Marine (Sea and Navy Museum) illustrates through texts and images the fortunes and misfortunes of Liberty when faced with the risks of sailing, of ships and of oceans… The itinerary conjures up the Liberty ships of the Second World War as well as the adventure of Hermione, the French frigate. It takes a look at celebrities from the maritime world such as Eric Tabarly and Alain Colas as well as artists fascinated by the call of the deep blue such as Brel, Antoine and Renaud… and invites to discover Titouan Lamazou’s sketches which complete this journey. The exhibition ends with a timeless relevance: the “shipwrecked of the Mediterranean” clutching to their rafts.
