The Pruneau Show does indeed centre stage the prune. This fruit, well-known to sportspeople and worth discovering for its health benefits, is produced by drying long, fine plums with orange-coloured flesh named plum d’Ente. The plums, placed on drying racks, are placed in an oven to condense aromas and to give them their shiny black skin.
Whiff the ever-so sweet fragrance which is diffused by visiting a production site. Although you may have to take a trip to the Lot Valley to do so as most of the prunes come from there!
But, back to Agen and the event. Continue your discovery by heading over to the BIP stand, the Interprofessional Prune Bureau, (prune-focused tasting sessions and culinary creations), or stroll through the Producteurs de Pays® market where Lot-et-Garonne terroir, a blend of orchards, market gardens, vineyards and duck farms invites you to enjoy an unforgettable feast.
Take time out over this last weekend of August to delight in the festive, friendly atmosphere which includes a host of performances from street art companies (fanfares, shows for children, parades of giant marionettes, street theatre). Sing along and dance away at the three key concerts on Place Esquirol, where Jenifer, Radio Elvis and Hoshi, and for the final evening Alain Chamfort, take to the stage.
