All the movers and shakers of comic strip art are in Angoulême to make this an exceptional event with a packed programme of exhibitions, meetings, shows, conferences, exclusive sales of collectors’ items and - of course - the hugely popular signing sessions!
This year the Festival will pay tribute to many comic book figures who died in 2021 and 2022 such as Hiroshi Hirata, Raoul Cauvin - screenwriter of Blue Tunics, [Nikita Mandryka - author of Le Concombre Masqué](https ://www.bdangouleme.com/hommage-a-nikita-mandryka-auteur-du-concombre-masque-et-grand-prix-du-festival-dangouleme-en-1994) or even [Jean-Claude Mézières] (https://www.bdangouleme.com/hommage-a-jean-claude-mezieres), Grand Prix de la Ville in 1984, co-creator - with his great friend Pierre Christin - of the unforgettable science fiction series "Valérian and Laureline".
Not to be missed:
An exhibition entirely dedicated to René Goscinny (1926-1977)
And there are, of course, the regular annual events: the Best Comic Book Award, the René Goscinny Award, the Young Talent award, the Audience award, the Thriller award and the Alternative Comic Strip award. Come and see all the latest creative work and meet your favourite authors. You’re in for some great surprises!
The festival is all over the city! So don’t miss out on this opportunity to walk the cobbled streets of old Angoulême to view the mural art that also celebrates comic strip art!
