Will you manage to hold out for five days and five nights of celebration, music and laughter? Of course, it’s not a must but get ready to dance, sing, be amazed and enjoy Landes’ fun, food and lifestyle non-stop. Check the programme agenda, the must-of-musts for any serious “festayre” (festival goer)!
It all kicks off with the landing when horses, boats, floats and Roman Legions arrive on the banks of the Adour. They conjure up – and celebrate – the past of the town when it was known as Acquae Tarbellicae (the Water of Tarbelles). Then when the keys of the town are handed over to the Festayres outside the Town Hall, the jubilant crowd begins to party. Real communicative joy… you’ll see for yourself!
Concerts every evening on the Poly’sons stage, bands, groups of musicians and celebratory chorals everywhere in the streets on 15 August, parade of dancers and musicians from around the world throughout the town on 17 August as well as the two major Feria parades, local gastronomy with a drink in the “peñas” (a must!), then the celebrations end with international folklore performances in the arena and a gigantic fireworks display over the river. You'll be back for sure!
