Memphis MADD Bordeaux

Design, Memphis – Plastic Field in Bordeaux. Fantastic exhibition

In the 1980s, the world of interior design was incredibly wowed by a new movement known as Memphis. A one-of-a-kind opportunity to discover this exhibition showcasing in Bordeaux until 05 January 2020 at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design.

160 iconic works, created between 1981 and 1988, displayed in a former Bordeaux prison. A trip into a realm of explosive colours, asymmetrical images, totem furniture, objects far removed from any sort of conformism or functionalism. Totally-unheard-of, a smash hit when the collection was unveiled in Milan in 1981.
Basically Memphis puts a smile back on people’s faces and even fits of laughter.
With the participation of Alberto Bianchi Albrici and Memphis SRL, co-producer of the Memphis exhibition, who lent most of the works.
