On your own, or in a team, the Village Marathon is the ideal way to do just that in a setting that participants qualify as breathtaking.
Naturally outstanding, that's what the Village Marathon claims; there's so much to see your eyes won't know which way to look between the ocean forest, La Pointe aux Chevaux (Horse Point) and its view of the bay, the Cap Ferret lighthouse, the 44 hectares and finally the quaint villages with their oyster huts (Grand Piquey, L'Herbe, Le Canon, le Piraillan).
You'll also experience a wide range of terrain along the way (tarmac, forest trails, limestone, crushed-oyster and even sandy paths), hear the Atlantic Ocean mingled with the encouraging cheers of the race volunteers, breathe in the holiday scents of sea air and forest pine, and of course taste the Arcachon Bay oysters!
Need more convincing? Local music groups keep up with the runners along with a host of other Cap Ferret surprises!
Prefer to walk? You can make the most of the ambiance and the logistics to take part in an organised trek the day before.
