Poule au pot a feast for a king !

Just like every year, you are cordially invited to Béarn to celebrate the anniversary of King Henri IV of France. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy his favourite meal: the famous poule au pot or boiled chicken!

Poule aupot

A visit to the markets of the area will get you all the ingredients you need for this traditional recipe : chicken, onions, carrots, turnips, stuffing… not to mention some informed advice from local producers about how to go about it.
If you prefer to be waited on rather than slave over a hot stove, just visit one of the 56 participating restaurants to savour the famous stuffed chicken stew. There’s enough choice on offer to satisfy both purists and those who lenjoy restyled cuisine !
During the week-long festivities, around 20,000 plates will be served in the city of Pau and its surrounding region: a fitting birthday banquet for Henry the Great!
