In summer 1987, Annie Fratellini set up her circus caravan in Nexon. Breaking away from traditional family transmission, she chose to teach circus arts to young people from all walks of life. She would also pave the way for introducing new artistic influences into circus arts. And so Le Sirque was born, with the acrobatic “S” symbolizing contemporary circus, today one of France’s 12 Pôles nationaux des arts du cirque (National Centres for Circus Arts).
Workshops flourish during the festival. An event that’s in tune with the times, where performers narrate the future. This year, they invite you to reflect on our world, to change together, through 58 performances, 12 shows, creations, a dance, 5 groovy concert evenings, daily public warm-up sessions as well as a magical brunch!
The Festival showcases a Producteurs de Pays® market with 100% local produce, a feast for the eyes and the mouth. The evening dazzles with the Cabaret Chantant’s glitter. All followed by a myriad of get-togethers, occasionally unexpected for the public and performers alike, and always finishes off with a meal, a concert, a celebration.
So, set yourself up in the camp site, come along and sit at the gigantic banqueting tables and eat in porcelain dishes, be whisked off by exceptional performers, enjoy the weekend brunch eye-to-eye with Scorpène, meet John Henry here, there, nowhere and everywhere, at the same time! And leave with stars in your eyes and your head full of hope!
