Lire à Limoges (Book Fair)

Every month of May, the Limoges Book Fair is held in the Champ de Juillet Esplanade gardens in the shadow of the Limoges-Bénédictins railway station. A thirty-year old tradition and now one of the biggest book fairs in France, it brings together 300 authors and a fervent public.

It has to be said that this annual rendez-vous with its mix of national, regional, children's, teen literature and comic books, has everything it takes to please a wide range of readers: events, round table discussions, readings, signing-sessions and awards - including one dedicated to Régine Desforges -given by excellent juries.

In 2019, the central theme for the Lire à Limoges Book Fair is Family, a highly topical issue in today's world around ideas of transmitting values, legacy, tribute and emancipation. As usual, families are welcome, with an area assigned to workshops and events for youngsters.

In the spotlight this year, “Le Petit Nicolas” who will celebrate his 60th birthday with an exhibition at the Bernardaud Foundation. On display will be around a hundred original Indian ink drawings by Sempé created in the sixties and accompanied with texts by René Goscinny.

French novelist David Foenkinos will preside over the show. Holder of the prestigious Renaudot Award and the Goncourt des Lycéens Prize for "Charlotte", adapted to the screen in "La Délicatesse", the author will be presenting his latest work, "Deux Soeurs" or "Two Sisters" during the event.
