the Pourpre Jazz Festival in the Périgord is for you. From the opening concert on May 3rd to the big shows over the weekend of May 17th -19th, head to Bergerac in the Dordogne valley.
Here you'll find yourself surrounded by a host of vineyards, such as Monbazillac, Bergerac, Pécharmant and Duras. Take your pick from one of the many Vignobles & Découvertes labelled properties to come and taste full-bodied red wines and sweet whites, in moderation.
Then without moderation, let a series of concerts lead you through the vines that give Purple Périgord its name: among others you'll find electro-jazz with the Montreal duo "TOPIUM", apéro-jazz with Purple Rock as a musical accompaniment to a silent film by Harold Loyd...
Don't miss out on the two and half days of free concerts at the « Village », place Gambetta in Bergerac, with dining to live music, gourmet market and an exhibition of Visual Arts and Crafts artists. A festive and cheerful occasion to visit this charming little town.
Highlights for your agenda: on May 17th “We Free Queens” with Rhoda Scott, living legend of the Hammond Organ and her Lady Quartet (Sophie Alour, Julie Saury and Lisa Cat-Berro), and on the 18th “Sparkling”, with Tom Ibarra virtuoso jazz composer and guitarist with hints of funk and fusion who's returning to the Festival Jazz Pourpre for the second time.
