Tatako Saito au CAPC de Bordeaux

The CAPC showcases Takako Saito, pure happiness and loads of optimism!

The CAPC, Bordeaux’s contemporary art museum, presents the first solo show of the works of art of Takako Saito, who will celebrate her 90th birthday this year.

The artist, part of the Fluxus international collective of avant-garde artists, emerging from the essence of Dadaism, founded in the 1960s and characterized by the following principles: Art is life, life is art.

Her art celebrates happiness and optimism, perceived through this exhibition of objects, installations, sounds… geared to paying intense attention to others and, as such, has the ability to become an integral part of a participative approach. The exhibition brings together more than 400 works spanning over 50 years of career beginning with her first pieces focusing on the game concept (in particular chess) through to her most recent clothing designs.

At the CAPC, the chessboards fashioned by Takako Saito are centre staged throughout the museum spaces and, at the same time, their photographic reproductions are displayed on the railings of the public park, images conjuring up this universal language which the artist uses to create her credo:
"May everyone take part” OLD and YOUNG alike".

What about taking a weekend break in Bordeaux … to thoroughly enjoy your stay, we suggest you purchase a Bordeaux CityPass valid for 1 to 3 days

And, if you’re looking for accommodation, we suggest the Central Hostel, a world-class youth hostel located on Place Saint Projet with rooftop restaurant. Enjoy a meal there, yet again, at incredibly-tempting prices and have fun at the ever-so cool hostel-organized evening events.

See you soon!
