The Sarlat Film Festival

Every November for more than twenty years, the Sarlat Film Festival has been screening previews of thirty feature length films and a curated selection of shorts, and the talk of the town is nothing but cinema!

Festival du film de Sarlat

Recognised as one of the major festivals of the French cinema world, the Sarlat Film Festival is sponsored and supported by local, departmental, regional and national bodies.
Irresistible to all film buffs, it welcomes many thousands of keen audience members to the Rex cinema, who also come here to meet the production teams and leading French directors and actors who often attend these premiers.

One of its most original features is that it is attended every year by 600 secondary school students from all over France who are studying for their school-leaving qualifications in film studies. Throughout the week, they attend conferences and screenings of art cinema films selected by the French national education authority in preparation for their forthcoming school-leaving exams. They also take part in workshop sessions and produce short films with assistance from volunteer industry professionals.

Every year, the event is extended with one-day events for film industry professionals and the opportunity to meet those involved in the production industry.
