1. Stroll along the ramparts

Old Angoulême is an amazing architectural jewel. By strolling along the ramparts you will be able to explore the city’s key monuments and parks.

The historic cobblestone streets host a myriad of film and TV series shootings every year. The panoramic views are just out of this world!

Vous le savez probablement : chaque année Angoulême accueille un grand festival international de la BD 😍 La ville met vraiment en avant les auteurs à travers notamment le parcours des murs peints : on trouve un peu partout sur les murs de la ville des œuvres créées par des auteurs de BD ! On valide ? 👏 D’ailleurs, il n’y a pas un détail que vous remarquez sur la première photo ?! 2. Head off on a quest to find the city’s painted walls

Comic strips are here, there and everywhere in Angoulême, even on the walls. A touristic trail comprising twenty-odd painted walls, created by the “CitéCréation” cooperative: a highly-original, entertaining way to discover the city.

3. The Cité internationale de la Bande Dessinée et de l’Image

Enter the kingdom of comics: a collection unequalled in Europe, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, meeting authors… A visit to the Comics Museum and the Comics Bookshop located in historic wineries along the banks of the Charente River is a must!

4. Indulge in Duceau chocolates

One of the oldest shops in the city, listed as a Historical Monument, is a paradise of chocolate confectionery created by Jean Christophe Crosnier: a real local institution. The famous Marguerite is a must-taste!

5. A cruise along the Charente River

Jump on-board the Reine Margot for a 1h45 guided cruise along the Charente River. And, why not delight in a dinner cruise (duration 2h15 to 3h15)

6. Stop off for a drink on one of Old Angoulême’s little squares

The cobblestone alleyways of Old Angoulême have a sort of Montmartre feeling to them. Stop off at Place des Halles or Place Francis Louvel, relax with a drink on a terrace and enjoy Angoulême’s gentle lifestyle.

7. Buy a pair of “Charentaises” (slippers)

If ever there was a gift from Angoulême to offer friends or family, then it would have to be “Charentaises” (slippers)! As well as being totally up-to-the-minute, they’re also an emblem of Charente.
