Bayonne Ham Fair

In the Basque Country, the Bayonne Ham Fair has been taking place in Bayonne since 1462. It is one of the gourmet, convivial and unmissable highlights of the South-West. The honoring of a terroir, the Bassin de l'Adour, and an artisanal tradition, from salting to maturing.

Enjoyed by Henry IV and the vast majority of the French population, the Jambon de Bayonne is one of the best-known and most eaten listed quality brands (IGP or Indication Géographique Protégée) and you can find out all about it during a 4 day-period in the town that it is named after.

On the banks of the River Nive, come and discover the different stages that lead to the famous "Lauburu" seal that authenticates the Bayonne Ham. Take the opportunity to meet the farmers and pork butchers behind it during a fair bursting with flavours and colours.

Down here we've got a gift for organising! Added to the fun of the Best Ham Contest, the Bayonne Ham Appreciation Society and the parade of historic Guilds, you'll find songs from the Bayonne choirs and many other events (concerts, Basque pelota). Enjoy your tasting sessions and tuck in!
