Like all the performances proposed in this National Monument since 2000, the opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi, under the musical direction of Valerio Galli and under the stage production of Jean-Christophe Mast, will feature performers who appear on the world’s greatest stages. Elena Guseva plays Aida, Olesya Petrova, Amneris, Sophie Marin-Degor, the High Priestess, Irakli Kakhidze, Radamès and Vitaliy Bilyy, Amonasro.
The public, opera enthusiasts from all four corners of France and inhabitants of the region, many who discovered (or will discover) opera for the first time thanks to the attractive prices here, is enthralled by the secluded, magical performance backdrop.
And the site promises a host of exquisite evenings to come: The Centre des monuments nationaux (French National Monuments Body), which runs the site, and the municipal cultural affairs department wish to recreate, at least partially, the tiers of seats of this antique theatre which could welcome up to 6,590 spectators.
Take advantage of this occasion to visit all of this major Nouvelle-Aquitaine Gallo-Roman site - reduced rates are offered upon presentation of your opera ticket - and discover the thermal spa and the sanctuary, at your own pace or with a guide.
