Taking a closer look into the La Rochelle aquarium: to marvel at the undersea world and learn more about it

When you’re in La Rochelle city centre, you should definitely not miss this extraordinary opportunity to discover the deep seas of the world and their inhabitants! The tour is the perfect combination of education and entertainment.

Total immersion!

Around three million litres of seawater, 12,000 marine animals and 10 different undersea worlds take you on a voyage of discovery into the fascinating universe of marine biodiversity.

From the Atlantic via the Mediterranean to the Tropics, Oceania and the Caribbean: a two-hour voyage that will fascinate all the family!

Stunning underwater choreography

The non-negotiable must-see of the entire tour: the 360° tunnel of jellyfish. Everyone falls under the spell of their graceful ballet. Phosphorescent, white or coloured, they have colonised the oceans for 600,000 million years, and in the amazing setting of the La Rochelle Aquarium, they offer you the most fascinating and captivating choreography of the natural world. A magnificent sight that’s definitely not to be missed!

The world of light

In the Galerie des Lumières (Gallery of Light), you’ll explore the magical world of the ocean deeps and encounter the species that live in its deepest trenches. It’s an introduction to the phenomena of bioluminescence, fluorescence and iridescence.

A magical journey around five new aquariums. The sophisticated presentation includes HD video, projections and interactive technologies to enhance the experience.

Flying turtles

Impossible I hear you say... The La Rochelle Aquarium is the perfect place to see all the different species of marine turtle and marvel at their effortless soaring swimming style worthy of the most agile feathered flyers. An amazing sight!

And for smaller children, Antioche the little turtle is the special guide for those aged four and over. What more fun way could there be to learn about the world’s marine animals, plants and ecosystems?
