A walk on the small cliffs to the north of Fouras to admire the carrelets, also known as pontoons or fisheries, which are very typical of the Charente-Maritime region and are a true image of the department. Mullet, sardines, shrimps, crabs and even eels are caught here!
With the storms of 1999 and Xynthia, many huts were swept away by the winds. Some were rebuilt, others with just the pontoon. Out of 600 destroyed by the 1999 storm, more than 450 have been rebuilt.
