Winemakers in the A.O.C. Jurançon wine(Protected Appellation of Origin), Patrice and Freya welcome you in their house of the XVIIIth century. The property overlooks the traditional village of Lasseube and is located in front of the Pyrenees chain. The tranquility of the vaulted cellar invites you to taste dry and soft wines from a singular countryside. Another room is reserved for the reception of groups up to 50 persons.
This beautiful loop follows the signposted "Tour du Dolmen" trail, with an extension from the station. It allows you to discover the Béarn countryside surrounded by the foothills of the Pyrenees.
Away from the beaten track, it has a few surprises in store: it passes through 2 remarkable villages, a dolmen - the largest in the département - and a section of the Chemin du Piémont Pyrénéen, following in the footsteps of pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.
This route is proposed by the Comité Régional de Randonnée Pédestre. Departing from a train station or TER bus stop, it allows you to join a walking or hiking itinerary, and take a stroll in ecomobility!
The first sections of the Ossau Valley greenway/bike route have been completed. It will eventually link Buzy to Eaux-Bonnes and will cross 9 municipalities.
To date, 13 km of cycle route (Buzy/Bielle and Geteu/Laruns station sections) with rest areas equipped with multifunctional bicycle terminals. A very easy bike ride at the foot of the mountains, at the entrance of the green Ossau valley, on a greenway that took over from an old railroad. It has a bucolic landscape dimension on the edge of the powerful river Gave that comes down from the mountains, but also a heritage dimension.
The Hondet farm is located in Lasseubetat, on the Jurançon hillsides between Oloron Sainte-Marie and Pau. It's a small, family-run business in full expansion, whose main activity is the force-feeding and processing of fattened ducks.
Initially, the Hondet farm was devoted to dairy cows. In 1983, the introduction of milk quotas weakened the then booming farm, forcing us to diversify. We opted for duck force-feeding.
Our products are sold on the farm: duck ribs and sausages, pâtés with foie gras and semi-cooked foie gras, preserves.
In the hills of Monein, on the route of Jurançon vines near Lacommande, the “Maison Canterou” is in a wine-farm qualified as “Agriculture raisonnée », Marie-JO and her daughter Corinne will host you as real friends.
This typical Béarn farm, dating from 1860, relates the history of the family, generation after generation. 3 rooms, with carefully chosen décor, are arranged on the first floor of the house, overlooking the vineyards, with delightful views of the hillsides. It is a campsite set in the middle of nature, with 12 pitches on a large shady meadow, wooden chalets to rent by the week and a berry orchard, which you can pick yourself and also learn how to make delicious jams. This estate is on the hillsides of Monein, near to Pau and facing the Jurançon vines and the Pyrénées. For generations the Malarrode estate has been home to the Mansanné family who have harvested the vines and farmed the land. In 1986, Gaston decided to devote the entire estate to winemaking; a total of 14 hectares of vines were planted, part of which were terraced. He then restructured the vineyard and invested in new barrels for the cellar. He focuses on the quality of the harvest to produce three very typical vintages : one dry and two sweet Jurançons.
Guided tours of the set up, tastings and direct sales are on offer and campervans are welcome via the France Passion network.
