Discover the remains of the Saint Sauveur Abbey, in Charroux, a village labeled "small city of character", in the south of the Vienne.
The abbey was one of the most powerful Benedictine abbeys in Carolingian Europe and owes its origins to its relic of the Holy Cross. Its famous octagonal tower, known as Charlemagne's tower, its remarkable gothic sculptures and its treasure make it one of the most important places of medieval heritage in Poitou.
