The church is surrounded by the green valley of La Seugne, that enable the development of fishing spots and watermills in the 19th century.
But human presence in this area date back to the Paleolithic era.
This bell tower is one among the beautiful ones in Saintonge.
The church was built in the 12th century but has big tranformation through the years, that explain the reason of the gothic portal.

We can also distinguish two different constructions on the tower bell : an octogonal floor above a previous square base.

The choir has master works : man on his knees between two lions, man with on pointed hat attacked by two birds, man with a wooden leg.
