An important protected natural site (fauna, flora) and one that welcomes migratory birds, in the heart of the Bay of Marennes-Oleron.
Located in the heart of the Marennes-Oleron bay, on the great "East Atlantic" migration route, the Moëze-Oleron National Nature Reserve, managed by the LPO, is a privileged stopover for birds. After having travelled thousands of kilometres, they find in the wet meadows, the former salt marshes, the lagoons and mudflats of the reserve, abundant food and a protected refuge.
This nature reserve has two faces: maritime (6200 hectares) with 13 km of shoreline on the eastern side of Oléronaise and continental (320 hectares).
The site can be visited, contact the nature reserve team in Saint-Froult.
