Ville de Pau

Capital of Béarn, Pau is famous for its castle where Henri IV was born, today a national museum with richly decorated apartments and one of the most beautiful French tapestry collections. It is loved for the mildness of its climate and became in the 19th century, under the impulse of the British gentry, a site with sumptuous villas and luxury hotels with the 1st golf course of the continent. Symbol of this good life: the Boulevard des Pyrénées and its palm trees on a mountainous setting
Pau turned a 1900 palace into a well-equipped congress centre, a neo-gothic convent into a national school of music and dance of the most modern kind; it has an innovative Zenith or a sports centre with contemporary architecture. Fine Arts Museum and Bernadotte Museum, funicular and white water stadium, the city holds all the attention.
