The municipality of Montendre and the association Serial Azimut Saintongeais, with the help of the French orienteering federation, have set up an orienteering area at Lake Baron-Desqueyroux.
This activity and its functioning are rather simple. Like an orienteering race, the principle is to walk from a map in order to find, while moving, checkpoints marked by punching beacons installed here and there, in places that are more or less easy to detect, at the bottom of a slope, in the middle of brambles or ferns, in the shade of a pine tree or by a stream...
The aim is to develop a sense of direction and location and to practice an outdoor sporting activity. The courses are suitable for a wide audience. With friends, family, schools and colleges, leisure centres, everyone will be able to take part in the various tours. Four tours have been defined, with different levels of difficulty, depending on whether you are more or less experienced in this activity.
Maps of the routes are available at the Town Hall during opening hours, at Mysterra, the 7 Labyrinths Park and online here : www.club-co17.com/index.php/les-eso-ppo/ppo.html#montendre
Departures are from Mysterra, the 7 Labyrinths Park.

Do you like fishing for black bass in calm waters? Then head for the Etang de Piquedur in the commune of Bors-de-Baignes! Right in the middle of a wild and peaceful natural setting, you'll find a waterhole where you can fish for Black Bass in No Kill mode.
Capricious and sensitive to weather conditions, this fish is baited using modern "soft lure fishing" techniques. This avoids frightening the animal when the hook comes into contact with the water. With this trick, you should be able to catch some nice fish ...
This natural area will provide you with the rest and tranquillity you're looking for, while you enjoy a spot of sport fishing. Note that catch and release of black bass is compulsory! And don't forget to bring your fishing licence for the current year so you can reel in your fish! Fishing is only permitted from the shore from 1 January to 31 March and from 1 July to 31 December.
Finally, be discreet and respectful of this fragile environment. You may be lucky enough to spot the European pond terrapin, a small freshwater turtle protected at national and European level.

The Etang de Chardes is located in the commune of Baignes Sainte Radegonde, where you can enjoy no-kill fishing.
On the pond, fishing is limited to one rod and access is subject to prior booking with the Barbezieux AAPPMA, except on Sundays and public holidays (free access).
To fish, you must have a fishing licence. This card shows that you belong to an approved association for fishing and protection of the aquatic environment (AAPPMA) and, more generally, that you are part of the network of recreational fishing associations. You can buy your fishing licence directly online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
