The territory of the Regional Nature Park (PNR) has thousands of springs and rivers (Vézère, Creuse, Corrèze, Vienne...) and is home to remarkable natural environments where peat bogs, moors, forests and meadows alternate. The Longeyroux peat bog, an exceptional reservoir of biodiversity, is a case in point.
The NRP is home to fragile and unique animal and plant species: otters, pearl mussels, wetland azure, linnet, white-tailed eagle, viviparous lizard, etc.
It is also a staging area for migratory birds. There are 12 species of birds, including the red-backed shrike, the European nightjar, the woodlark, the grey crane, etc.
The flora is very diverse: heather moorland, sphagnum moss or drosera are just a few examples. A dense forest of deciduous and coniferous trees creates a heterogeneous landscape. An astonishing and unmissable discovery.
