Saint-Jean-de-Luz is an authentic town with a particularly fascinating past and a fishing harbour overlooked by splendid mansions and beautiful neo-Basque villas. Most of the streets are pedestrianised.

For shopping fans, it's paradise: the colourful little boutiques have it all, from the latest fashion must-haves to traditional crafts. On Place Louis XIV, painters exhibit their artworks around the bandstand. It's not uncommon for a Basque choir to come and provide entertainment at aperitif or coffee time.

Hotel Les Orangeries, to feel good… sustainably

Les orangeries

Located half an hour from Poitiers on the road to Limoges, you can be sure of a relaxing time at this charming hotel. A beautiful renovated 18th-century house offers a warm welcome, set in a large, tree-lined park.

The first "EU Ecolabel" certified hotel in France and a pioneer of sustainable tourism, Les Orangeries experiments with a new, more sustainable way of life: a gastronomic restaurant serving locally sourced organic food, a cellar full of natural wines... It was a top pick in the Guide 2018 Origine Nature, which promotes restaurants that value biodiversity and their region's land and produce.
