Welcome to Gîte Le Vallier Verdoyant! Mélanie and Sébastien welcome you to their accommodation on a human scale, located as close as possible to the blue lakes of Guizengeard. Only 2 minutes are needed to get there.



Equipped with a mobile home that can accommodate up to 5 people, this cottage will make you spend a cocooning stay with family or friends. The interior consists of two bedrooms with plenty of storage, a double bed (140 cm) and two single beds (90 cm), a bathroom with shower and toilet, a fitted kitchen and a 'a dining room. A terrace with barbecue, garden furniture and deck chair is also accessible from the outside.



In the garden you will find a common play area for children, with a sandbox, a swing and racket games. Perfect for making family memories!



Of course, your travel companions are allowed in the cottage. An enclosed area has been set up for their safety.

But what is a Tiny-House? It is an unusual and ecological wooden accommodation, offering all the comforts of a house and the freedom of movement of a motorhome.



Since 2022, Gîte le Vallier Verdoyant has been experimenting with this concept and providing holidaymakers with a Tiny-House, located just a few kilometers from the blue lakes of Guizengeard (Natura 2000 classified site). Without superfluity and disconnected from the rest of the world, you can spend a pleasant cocooning stay with family or friends.



This accommodation includes two double beds of 140 cm and 160 cm, for a capacity of up to 4 people. It is equipped with all the necessary comforts: fridge, freezer, gas hob, oven, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, crockery, cleaning products and materials, bed linen and bathroom linen.



Outside, a common play area has been set up for children, with a sandbox, a swing and racket games. Pets are allowed on site.

Le safran de Cornelius is a saffron producer located in the Charente, on the heights of the beautiful village of Montboyer. They produce and sell saffron pistils but also jams, chutney, vinegars and mustards.
Reception at our saffron plantation: discover the taste of organically, home made products. Saffron-flavoured chutneys, jams, mustards, vinegars, syrups, honey, salt and of course saffron.

Set in 15 hectares of parkland, this beautiful 15th-century barn welcomes you all year round.
Its capacity is flexible. Ideal for 2 to 10 people as classified by Gite de France, it remains very comfortable up to 14 people thanks to its mezzanine which can accommodate 2 people, 2 extra beds in the Cabane which is a small chic dormitory with showers and wc.

The dovecote by the pool sleeps two more and the vintage campsite 20 more.

Authenticity and charm for the "Le Grenier" room, an old 15th century granary, which can be used for receptions, seminars and exhibitions.

An early church, built in the late 11th or early 12th century. Wall paintings in the choir and traces of them in the rest of the church are still present. They are in a remarkable state of preservation.
These drawings evoke floral decorations, but also angels, saints and coats of arms.



The southern wall of the nave and the western façade date from the 17th century, following the destruction of the Wars of Religion. On the other hand, the vault of the nave, in brick, dates from 1844.



The monument is classified as a "Monument Historique".

Poullignac Town Hall is open all year round.

Looking for a quiet and refreshing place for your picnic? ... Then head for the Poullignac area! This isolated place, disconnected from the rest of the world, will make you discover its old wash-house, as well as its fountain, named Saint-Martin fountain.
This fountain has the same name as the village church. Could it be a coincidence? No one knows if this one has miraculous virtues. In any case, its presence is enough to bring a romantic atmosphere to the place. Birdsong and the sound of dripping water will be on the menu for your lunch.

The site is equipped with a table, four adjoining benches and waste bins. Public toilets are available all year round, near the village hall.

All the resources needed by the vines are present in nature. It is entirely up to the wine grower, the craftsman of his wine, to use these resources to reveal the unique qualities of the soil.

It is what Jean-Francois Decroix has practised on his vineyard since by producing cognac and pineau.
This means autonomy and independence of the vineyard with no reliance on external contributory sources. This is made possible thanks to additional crops produced from August to May which provide the physiological needs of the vines throughout the year.



The grape naturally contains the yeasts which transform sugar into alcohol during the wine making process. The wine obtained, once distilled in the traditional charentaise way, will turn into the famous cognac brandy. A slow ageing, in oak barrels made from local wood, will give the final product its so typical taste of cognac. By his research work on blending methods, Jean-Francois Decroix has managed to create a 'natural' cognac with the flavours of former days.

The small village of Oriolles welcomes you to its wooded picnic area, opposite the village hall. Take advantage of this peaceful place, to have lunch and relax for a while with a good book.
The site includes bins, as well as parking spaces for easy parking.

Nearby, the Touvérac quarries offer an unusual encounter with their turquoise blue waters. These wild landscapes, full of poetry, are home to a rich and fragile fauna and flora.

Nature has reclaimed its rights on this former kaolin quarry. The result today is a truly fascinating corner of nature, where walks are a real pleasure!
The old clay quarries at Guizengeard

Its industrial history is similar to that of the Touvérac quarries located a little further west. The oak and chestnut groves here were replaced by open-cast quarries. Kaolin, a white clay so pure and fine, was mined here for years by the AGS company before the site was sold in 2018 to the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels de Nouvelle-Aquitaine as part of the environmental compensation linked to the construction of the Sud-Europe Atlantique high-speed line (LGV SEA).

All these areas have been created by man, but for what purpose? The aim is to make the site suitable for a large number of species. The wetlands will be revegetated to create refuge areas for semi-aquatic mammals such as the amphibian vole. But this is no simple task, as industrial activity has uncovered materials that acidify the water. The pH of the water is below 3 (pH equivalent to vinegar), complicating the development of aquatic life. However, this phenomenon is reversible, and the newly-created ponds have escaped it, making it possible for the aquatic life to thrive. The resulting landscape offers unusual panoramas, alternating between open spaces and wooded areas.

Maritime pine dominates the site's woodland today, because it was planted as part of the quarry rehabilitation project in 2000. The Conservatoire is now working to restore deciduous species to their rightful place in the landscape. Successive thinning will help to achieve this goal, but patience will be required as the forest is slow to evolve.

The open spaces are mainly made up of moorland with heather and coloured gorse, sometimes alternating with grassland or wetter areas. This is why there are numerous ponds on the site, as well as areas that are flooded for only part of the year. These areas can provide breeding sites for the agile frog and the southern tree frog.

This fully renovated contemporary house comprises a 53m² living room with a fitted kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 shower rooms, 2 WCs and a utility room.

Domaine Chez les Rois is an old square farmhouse, built in 1842, located in the beautiful Charente region of south-west France.
Bed and breakfast on request (single rooms with bathroom and breakfast, use of various services by arrangement).

Outside this period, dates can be booked by arrangement.

Minimum stay in June, July and August and during school holidays: 7 nights (Saturday to Saturday). Outside these dates, the minimum stay is 3 nights.

Cleaning of guest rooms :

In order to respect your privacy during your stay, the rooms are not cleaned, except on request. Towels are changed every three days out of respect for nature.
