Five rituals to pamper yourself in Bordeaux

Who doesn’t like to get all dolled up every now and again? Take advantage of your stay in the vineyards of Bordeaux to sample the benefits of vinotherapy or simply enjoy a massage amongst the vines. Here, we’ll share our favourite pamper spots in and around Bordeaux, because we’re nice like that.

Back to the source

Spa Caudalie

You’re encouraged to drink the merlot responsibly, but there’s no such limit to how much vinotherapy you can enjoy. We would never have believed that grape seeds could be so good for you... until we had a revelation at Sources de Caudalie. Set in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, you can unpack your luggage at Smith Haut Lafitte Chateau in Martillac and then savour exquisite treatments in the spa, delicious meals in Nicolas Masse’s two Michelin-starred restaurant, and tonic laps of the indoor pool.

Vineyard views

Piscine du Grand Barrail

Saint-Émilion is about more than just the nectar of the gods. It’s also a spa, comfortably at home in the Grand Barrail hotel. The jacuzzi looks out onto the vineyards, making it the perfect spot to switch off and relax. If you can tear yourself away, you can visit the owners of the surrounding winemaking chateaus. They will be more than happy to let you taste a few of their vintages.

Romanesque

Le spa Nuxe - Les Bains de Léa à l'Hôtel Intercontinental de Bordeaux.

Unwind in the Nuxe - Les Bains de Léa Spa at the Intercontinental Hotel in Bordeaux. Leave your toga at the entrance and slip into the turquoise waters of the antique baths. Swim countercurrent between the imposing pillars and lavish wall-hangings. Give in to the intoxicating aroma of the divinely fragrant steam in the hammam. Finish up with a prodigious massage from a prodigious masseur.

Pitch black

Spa Dans le noir à Bordeaux.

It’s said that when one sense is muted, the others experience sensations more keenly. And it’s true! Come this way for the Spa Dans le noir in Bordeaux. Exfoliation, body or facial massages... Exactly what you’d expect, apart from the fact that all of these treatments are administered in absolute pitch darkness, by blind or visually impaired practitioners. Rediscover the senses!

Caviar and diamonds

À l’Hôtel de Sèze

If you’re visiting Bordeaux, find an excuse to slip away to the Hôtel de Sèze. When you’re there, ask for the Queen’s Necklace. Precious stones, diamonds, and caviar are the main ingredients in this luxurious 90 minute face treatment that will turn you into a true beauty queen...
