About Hennessy’s Les Visites
Hennessy’s Les Visites welcome epicurean travellers year-round in Cognac, France, offering a range of guided and private tours to discover the secrets behind Hennessy’s time-honored craftsmanship
For more than 250 years, Maison Hennessy has been producing one-of-a-kind cognacs in the heart of its native Charente region in France. Created in 1765, the Hennessy brand was born of the vision of one man, Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer enlisted in Louis XV’s army who very quickly foresaw the extraordinary international commercial potential of Cognac’s eaux-de-vie and set up his own wine merchant business.
Hennessy is the unrivaled cognac market leader and one of the top high-end spirits brands in the world – offering excellence in every bottle, in more than 160 countries. A crown jewel of the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy group (LMVH), Hennessy is a major contributor to French international trade and an ambassador of French art de vivre the world over.
Today, Hennessy’s Les Visites continue this tradition of hospitality and excellence, welcoming epicurean travellers year-round to its hometown of Cognac, a short 1h30 drive from Bordeaux and La Rochelle, 1h from the beautiful Charente beaches, and less than 3 hours away from Paris by train. Choose from a range of guided tours and multisensory experiences that suit every taste and budget; and discover some of the secrets behind the Maison’s time-honored craftsmanship and rituals, passed down from one generation to the next.
Hop on board La Demoiselle, a modern version of the traditional gabares, for a guided river cruise to discover the architectural and natural heritage along the Charente River.
IMPORTANT: La Demoiselle is protected from the sun but not from the rain. We therefore invite you to bring what you need in case of bad weather.
La Demoiselle offers 2-hour walks to discover the heritage nestled in the green Charente valley, between vineyards and limestone.
A contemporary reinterpretation of the gabares that once plied the Charente to transport goods, with its wooden cladding and flat bottom, the Demoiselle is a boat with a capacity of 69 passengers.
Come and discover the Demoiselle cruise in a whole new way on Wednesday evenings in July and August, with festive entertainment! (see the schedule of events at the bottom of the page).
Non-alcoholic soft drinks sold on board; payment accepted in cash, credit cards and checks.
Dogs are accepted on board (except for defense dogs) and must be kept on a leash.
Smoking is prohibited on the boat and its pontoon.
We wish you a pleasant cruise aboard La Demoiselle!
