It is by taking the Passe aux Bœufs that you will discover the Ile Madame. Accessible only at low tide, it offers a varied natural and historical panorama. Please note the tide times.
Île Madame is said to have taken its name either from Anne de Rohan-Chabot, mistress of Louis XIV, or from the abbess of the Abbaye aux Dames de Saintes, who bore the title "Madame de Saintes". During the Revolution, it was called the "Ile Citoyenne".
