Strawberries are very fragile and need to be picked by hand, directly into trays so as not to suffer from handling. Growing strawberries close to home saves on transport costs. Strawberries are picked when fully ripe and can be eaten straight away. They retain all their flavor and nutritional value without being damaged or degraded by transport or storage.
