All-wood cabin on the Ile de Ré: a warm, cosy home
The cabins are 100% French and local.
They are made on the other side of the Ile de Ré bridge, in L'Houmeau, in a small artisanal workshop.
The wood comes from the Marais Poitevin (pine) and the Dordogne (oak), and is completely untreated: goodbye chemical fumes, hello good living!

Thanks to its cosy feel, you'll feel so at home that you'll quickly switch off!
The cabin can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children up to 12 years of age.
Children's sleeping area on mezzanine

Our cabins are ideal for a family of 2 adults and 2 young children (under 12).

Sustainable tourism

For Séverine and Bastien, the managers of Les Baleines campsite, protecting nature is of paramount importance and a veritable philosophy of life. "Nature is there to nourish and heal mankind, and mankind must protect it" is their credo and that of their team. For us, it's up to our campsite to adapt to our environment, not the other way round. Our site is exceptional and remarkable, and we are committed to protecting it. This means taking numerous steps to reduce our consumption of water, energy and waste. At Les Baleines, everything we do is designed to protect the environment: from the origin and absence of hazardous treatments for the materials used in our homes, to the quality and local origin of the products used in our groceries and breakfasts, to the choice of cleaning products that do not contain harmful chemicals but carry environmental labels: European Ecolabel, Ecocert. We are committed to promoting and enhancing biodiversity, the heritage of the Ile de Ré and the circular economy. To this end, we have forged partnerships with Icycle, a structure for integration through economic activity, and with the LPO (Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux - League for the Protection of Birds), and we offer nature outings in high season to raise awareness among our holidaymakers. Our environmental approach is recognized by several labels and certifications: Qualité Tourisme - Écolabel Européen (certified since 2013) - Accueil vélo - Charte des Acteurs Ré'sponsables - member. We launched a CSR program in 2023 and are aiming for CSR certification by the end of 2025.
