Château de Rauzan

In the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region, the Château de Rauzan is a fine example of a medieval fortified castle. It was built in the 13th century, when Aquitaine belonged to the English crown, at the request of the king-duke John Lackland (son of Eleanor of Aquitaine and brother of Richard the Lionheart)
Cross its stone bridge, once closed by a barbican, and enter this building, which has been restored as often as it has been destroyed.
Admire the flamboyant gothic door of the tower of honour and its precious palm tree vault, added in the 15th century, then climb the 107 steps of the keep. From the master tower, whose terrace rises to 31 metres above the moat, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside
